Introduction to Nose Work
Sniff, Search, and Succeed! Nose Work Training
Service Description
This is a 6 week group course on the introduction of scent training for your dog and the training methodology. Puppies/Dogs over 5 months of age and fully vaccinated are welcome! Does your dog love to sniff? (Spoiler alert: ALL dogs do!) Nose Work is a fun game that turns your dog’s natural superpower—their sense of smell—into an exciting adventure. In this class, your pup will learn how to hunt for hidden scents and show you when they’ve found the prize. We’ll start easy and build up to bigger challenges, keeping it fun and rewarding every step of the way. Dogs work one at a time, so this class is perfect for shy pups, social butterflies, young puppies, or even senior dogs looking for a new hobby. ✨ Why you and your dog will love Nose Work: Burns energy without needing long walks or runs Boosts confidence and problem-solving skills Strengthens your bond as a team Every dog can succeed—no experience needed! Bring your dog’s favorite treats, and get ready to watch them light up with excitement as Scent training celebrates the dog’s innate ability to sniff and becomes a fun game for the dog, as well as the handler. Even if your dog is reactive, this class is for you. Only one dog works at a time, so their is no distractions of other dogs and their handlers. The first class will have an orientation at the beginning and then class will begin with you working your dogs. Reminder, that one dog works at a time. Your dog does need to be able to sit quietly in your car, preferably in a crate. As each dog will be worked individually, the others dogs do need to be contained in the car. As the weather might be warm, you might have to have windows and doors open, so a crate is recommended. Also, if you are considering competing in a type of scent training competition, it is a rule now that all dogs are confined to crates in the vehicle. There are four forms to be submitted as well: Hold Harmless Form, Social Media Consent, a Vaccine Verification, and a COVID-19 Waiver. If there is inclement weather that does not allow us to meet in person, the class will be rescheduled accordingly. You will need: LOTS of HIGH Value Treats, preferably human food. Water and a bowl. Means of keeping your pet cool in the vehicle while waiting. Collar/Harness Leash
