You Got A Puppy, Now What?

Puppies are adorable, small, and cuddly when we get them. Then they begin to grow and develop and many puppy owners find themselves unsure of the next step and overwhelmed. That's where we come in. We have a service for every owner to make those first few months become enjoyable and allow you to build a lasting, loving relationship with your pup.

Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten Open Enrollment is a new concept that we are going to try out in the coming year of 2024. With ever changing chaos in our lives, sometimes the traditional 6 week class is not ideal. With this option you are able to sign up for classes that are available and fit your schedule. The hope is we will be available to offer more than one class slot each week, also allowing puppies to be started sooner than waiting for another group to begin.

Every week will go over a combination of the skills to be learned over the course of the 6 weeks. This is a course for puppies 6-24 weeks of age.

The topics covered are:
Impulse Control
Relaxation
Luring Behaviors such as "sit", "down", and "stand"
Socialization
Cooperative Care
Beginning Leash work
House Training, Crate Training, and Appropriate Training Tools
Fun Games!

The group classes are designed around a specific curriculum that is followed weekly and covers the above concepts. Online material and videos will be available to you with the course fee.

Before attending a class, you are required to complete the introduction video that is available in our online courses. This will eliminate our in-person, no puppy orientation class. Also, you will need to reserve your spot in class online through the website as each class will be limited each class.

At the beginning of every class we will discuss the content of the class, then we break off to work individually on the topics while the instructor comes around to answer questions and help with those topics.

If you are looking for help with something beyond that scope or more personalized training, then individual lessons are a better option for you and can be scheduled. If unsure, please ask.

We highly recommend not missing a class, but understand that it occasionally happens, you can get additional help with the curriculum missed with a (paid) private lesson. A minimum of 4 classes is required to graduate to the next class. There are no make ups for missed group classes and payment is non-refundable and non-transferrable 7 days before classes begin. (We are different from a tangible product in that we can not put our services back on the shelf to resell like you would if returning a pair of shoes.)

Please be sure when registering that this class is for you and your dog.

Not sure this is the right option for you, we are offering a pay per session option to attend class. A pay per session class will not be credited to a class package. You are still required to do the online introduction course and fill out consent forms.

A social environment to begin your puppy on the right paw with understanding basic obedience, capturing the potential of your puppy early on in life, and developing a life long bond.

Attend an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class for at least 6 weeks. Your instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC® for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs are welcome to participate in the program including purebreds and mixed breeds.

3

Have online course access to the material taught in our in-person class. Instructional videos, handouts, and training tips.

4

Unsure that group classes are right for you and your puppy. Or maybe there is scheduling conflicts but you need help now. That is where our individual lessons come in. With individual puppy training lessons, we can focus on your and your puppies needs and in your home environment. Yes, we do come to you for these. But are not only limited to your home. We can do adventure outings or meet at the training building as well. Individual lessons are limitless in what we can work on!

5

Once the Puppy Kindergarten class is completed, your puppy is ready to go into the Canine Basic Manners - Next Level class. This class will be focusing on improving the basic obedience learned in kindergarten, learning active stays, platform work, recalls, and distraction work.

You might also consider one of the Adventure Outings, an Outdoor Class, or even individual private lessons.

Not sure that your puppy is ready to move out of the Puppy Kindergarten class just yet? Not a problem they can be signed up for more classes as long as they are under 24 weeks of age.
